Albequerque New Mexico
Temple # 28
Albuquerque, New Mexico
November 21, 2014
Onward to New Mexico! This was our first time to New Mexico, and it was a fun experience. We drove straight to Albuquerque, and went to the Temple. Albuquerque is a neat city. It has desert on one side, and mountains on the other. We only had one day there, but it was still fun.
The Albuquerque Temple was beautiful as well. I say beautiful a lot, but each Temple is exactly that. They are buildings that none other in the world can compare to.
The Albuquerque one is unique in many ways. It has the massive, spectacular mountain range, called the Sandia Mountains, rising high behind it. They make for a great backdrop to the beautiful temple. If time is had, there is a gondola ride to the top, and some hikes to do, which we unfortunately didn't have time for.
We went inside, and it was gorgeous. Absolutely loved it the moment we walked in. It has Native American paintings and decorations, including rugs and pottery, just like the Snowflake Arizona Temple has. We loved admiring the Native American decoration, and how they included it in the Temple. It was such a neat temple. It's also a larger one, where we went to the second floor just to change. We were fortunate enough to also see it at night, which it was glowing brightly and wonderfully in the flood lights.
After the Temple we went to a hotel, and then left in the morning. We said goodbye to New Mexico, and headed North. We went to Colorado, driving through the breathtaking city of Durango and stopping by Mesa Verde. Mesa Verde was an incredible place, and unfortunately we only had part of the day there.
We then headed home, ending our fun trip. It was fantastic, and we loved every moment. One thing I have forgotten to mention is what we did while we drove. We have some audio books which we listened to for the many hours we were on the road. They were a series called Out of Jerusalem, which were based on characters from the Book of Mormon. It was entertaining to listen to, and even somewhat spiritual, adding to the spirituality of our temple trip.
We were so glad we were able to do such a fun road trip with Ivy's parents and her grandma Ivy. We couldn't wait to do another trip, and were already planning one. Arizona and New Mexico were amazing, with the unique desert and mountainous landscape, large cities to small towns, and brilliant temples throughout, it was wonderful.
