Logan Utah Temple

Temple #10
Logan, Utah
November 2, 2013

Here is another old and castle-like temple that we just love. Built on a hill, just like many other temples, the Logan Temple can be seen throughout the Cache Valley. The area around the Temple is neat as well, with many old homes that hold an old history of their own. Ivy and I even dream of owning a home next to the Temple one day.
The Logan Temple was Ivy's Temple for a while as she went to school at Utah State University, so she did baptisms there weekly. For me, going with her was my first time.
Ivy's parents went to the Logan Temple quite often as well, and it was Darcy's temple all growing up. Vera’s grandmother, Vera Hatch, worked at the Logan Temple for twenty-five years. She lived down the street and would walk there often. It's always neat to go to a Temple that our families and our ancestors have gone to often. Darcy’s parents got married at the Logan Temple as well, so there are ties to both Darcy’s and Vera’s families.
I love how as you go up towards the Temple, you see it rise out of the trees and beautiful flower gardens surrounding it. The Logan Temple is a unique color, not being a traditional white and cream color. It's a dark brown limestone, which makes it look even more like a medieval castle. The Temple used to be painted white, but as it weathered away, they let it uncover the rock to where it eventually revealed all of the limestone beneath.
Logan is a fun city, with plenty to do any time of the year. Winters are cold, but there is always plenty of snow to sled or snowboard or ski on. In summer there is rock climbing, hiking, parties, sport events, and plenty of other things to do. It's a lively college town, and wouldn't be a bad place to live.
Our first time together to the Logan Temple was a fun but also sad weekend. Ivy and I went to Idaho for Ivy's cousins funeral. Darcy and Vera, and Heidi and Trevor went as well. After the funeral we went home through Logan, and decided to go to the Temple, of course. We're lucky enough to have family that also enjoys going to the Temple, and makes it a lot easier for us to be able to go.
My brother Greg has lived in Logan on and off for the past eight or so years. It's always fun to see him as we drive by, and now that he's married with a kid, we get to see the whole family.
The Logan Temple, the second temple built and still standing, is a marvelous temple with lots of history and beauty. It used to have the live session and progressive style ordinance rooms, yet it was remodeled and changed to help with the crowds of people flocking to the Temple.
The Temple overlooks the Cache Valley with grandeur, reminding all of the sacred ordinances within. If you live in Utah, you definitely need to make the trip to Logan, for the fun area, and for the amazing Temple.
