Newport Beach CA
Temple #15
Newport Beach, California
August 9, 2014
California, what a great state. There are thousands of members there, and now seven temples. We have been to most of them, and each time we've been to California we made it a goal to go to a temple.
Our first trip to California while married was a fun one. On a random week in August, our friends Brad and Erin invited us on a trip. They wanted to go to California just for the weekend. We agreed to go, and that Friday we were headed towards the coast.
Needless to say, we had a blast. We first went to the Newport Beach Temple, because we just happened to be really close to it.
The temple is unique in color and design. When planning the temple, locals had a few complaints with the height and color it was going to be. Because of this, the temple is now a light sandy color, instead of the usual white.
The temple is still yet beautiful. We had an enjoyable time going with Brad and Erin. Once again we are blessed with others who enjoy going to the temple as well. Brad has been a friend of mine for a long time, and we are lucky that him and his wife both love the temple, and are willing to go with us.
We took some fun photos, because I was tired of our regular, normal poses, and then walked around the Temple, and went on our way.
Afterwards we went to Knottsberry Farm, enjoying the rest of the day on rides. In the evening we made a quick stop to the beach where we relaxed and swam in the waves.
On Sunday we headed back home. Ivy and I drove through six states that day, driving to Ivys’ grandparents house in Bern Idaho. It was a quick trip, but a well worth it one.
Although we didn't have a lot of time in California, we still made the time to go to the temple. It makes the trip more spiritual and worth it, and recommend to anyone traveling near a temple to do what they can to go. I know you'll love it!
