Provo Temple

Temple #8
Provo City Temple
October 4, 2013

The Provo Temple is quite a busy one, and different than many others. It was, and possibly still is, the busiest temple. Luckily they have now built the Provo City Center Temple which has really helped with the crowds.
One reason this temple is so busy is because of the awesome buildings next to it; the Missionary Training Center. Every day and every week all year, missionaries within the MTC go to the temple to help with their spirituality. I had the chance to do this a few times while I was in the MTC, training to go preach the Gospel in Texas. It was the only other temple I had been to other then the St. George Temple, at that time. The difference in the two surprised me, and yet the differences only ever lie in the architecture and design.
The Provo Temple sits near the mouth of a canyon, and the base of two vast, magnificent mountains. This makes for fantastic photos every time. The fountain in front with the surrounding flowers helps as well. It's beautiful there, and always has the spirit surrounding the place, especially as you see fresh missionaries walking in and out of the front doors.
The day we went to the Provo Temple, we were first planning on going to the Salt Lake Temple, but Darcy and Vera had just been recently. They go as often as possible, usually once a week, which is wonderful. They have truly helped Ivy and I be inspired to go to the temples. They wanted to go to the Provo Temple, and we were up visiting, and so we went along with them.
The Temple at first looks quite different, being round with a center spire, which sometimes people say looks like a cupcake with a candle. I'm not sure what I think about that, but I know what I think about the inside. It's beautiful like all the rest, and brings a peace that no where else can bring. It's also unique, in which it’s circular on the inside, and my first time in there I got turned around and lost, but the kind workers helped me out.
After the temple, we quickly took the picture, with a bright sun setting, and dark clouds gloomy behind us. Next, after the Temple, came one of Ivy’s favorite traditions of Provo. Darcy and Vera would always take her and her family out every time they went to the temple, or sometimes just anytime they where in Provo, to Baskin Robbins, the ice cream shop. So this is what we did, and we've continued the tradition.
Ivy and I go to the Temple often, but I think we both agree that when we go with others, it's more meaningful and spiritual. Whether if it's family, friends, or we just meet someone kind while there, going with someone else just lightens the experience.
We went with a family friend of Ivy’s to the Provo Temple once, to get his endowments out, and it was awesome. The emotions and spirit felt was immense, and we loved every moment. It may be an odd style of Temple, according to some, but the Spirit is the same as other Temples. We love to see the Temple!
