Los Angeles Temple

Temple #18
Los Angeles, California
October 9, 2014

Another California Temple! The next few temples were done on an last minute, exciting trip to Southern California. My mom needed some help with her job convention in Los Angeles, and so we volunteered. It was all paid for, and we got a rental car and had some free time! It was a blast!
The first time we saw the Los Angeles Temple together was while we were dating. Ivy had been before and done baptisms for the dead, but I never had been. When we went on our adventitious date to California, we stopped by the temple.
We wanted to do baptisms, but it was unfortunately closed. We walked around it and admired the building still, and went into the visitor center. The Temple is enormous. It's one of the tallest and largest temples in the church today. When we walked up to it, the massive spire stretched high into the sky, and the feeling of its greatness and spirituality excited me.
We then went to the visitor center which was beautiful as well. There is a Christus statue there which is always a bonus.
We finally got to go to the temple when we went on this trip to California. We had to be at the convention for most of the day, but afterward we had free time, and so dedicated this free time to going to the temples.
The Los Angeles Temple is the oldest in California, and still has a lot of old style architecture and set up. It's one of the seven temples where you progress through different rooms as you go through the session. It also has an assembly room, but we weren't fortunate enough to see it.
The rooms are massive just like the building, and each room is decorated with magnificent, large murals. They are beautiful, and sometimes a distraction as you go through a session. I absolutely love the murals in the temples, and truly adore them.
We loved the Los Angeles Temple, and it is one of my top recommended temples to visit, especially if you are in the Los Angeles area. It is one of our favorites, and we loved our experience there. If you're going to the beach nearby, or to the wonderful Disneyland, then take the time and go to the Los Angeles Temple. Guaranteed it will be worth it!
