Twin Falls Idaho Temple
Temple #102
Twin Falls, Idaho
August 25, 2018
Our next temple just happened to be another one in Idaho! Just like the Rexburg temple, we had driven pass Twin Falls before and yet we had never been there or even stopped.
Ivy and I like to be spontaneous sometimes and that’s when some of the most fun things happen in life. It was a Friday night and we weren’t sure what to do the following day on Saturday. Randomly we both decided to go to Twin Falls and go to a new temple!
We woke up early and quickly drove the 3 1/2 hours to Twin Falls. It wasn’t the prettiest of drives especially since there had been so many fires recently we couldn’t see two hundred yards from the freeway.
We first went to Shoshone Falls, the Niagara of the West. It was pretty astonishing watching the Snake River plummet over the large cliffs. In the middle of such a dry, flat desert-like area it was neat to see such a massive waterfall.
We then went to the beautiful temple and got our photos. It was smokey there but behind the temple the sky was blue and made our pictures turn out great.
The temple is tall with one single, tall steeple in the front. We went in and did a session. It similar in layout to a smaller temple but it has two floors. The first room in the endowment had an incredible painted mural of the Shoshone Falls that surprises you as you walk in. It’s so large and looks like a photos making us seem as if we were standing right there. It was neat to see the mural less than an hour after we had seen the Falls.
There were also antelope, deer and a hawk in the mural. It’s neat to see the different murals in each temple and how they represent the area.
The temple was very pretty all throughout and me, being a carpenter, appreciated the maple wood that was throughout the entire temple. We then went into the Celestial room and there was a massive chandelier in the center hanging from a sixty foot ceiling and it made us feel like we were in a Disney princess movie it was so big and beautiful.
After the temple we drove home. It was a quick trip but totally worth it! We wondered why we had never done it since it was so close to us. It was just like the Rexburg Temple where we realized that sometimes we focus so much on the big difficult things that we forget about the close and easy things that are just as important.
It was a short trip but it was a fun trip. Sometimes the spontaneous, unplanned trips are our favorites and we are so glad we do them. Don’t be afraid and just take that initiative and do something fun and random! You’ll never know where you may end up!
