Rexburg Idaho Temple

Temple #101
Rexburg, Idaho
June 5, 2018

Our one-hundredth and first temple! And it just happened to be in Idaho. It was funny because before this we had only been to one of the five temples in Idaho; the Idaho Falls Temple, and it was almost five years earlier when we were engaged. It's crazy that although they're close to home we hadn't done them. It was a reminder to us that we sometimes neglect things that are close to us and we need to not do that and to not forget.
We finally went because we were headed to Montana. We had passed by Rexburg many times but just never made the time to go to the temple. It’s a ten hours drive to Montana, and although we’ve done the drive three times we just never made the time. We decided to wake up earlier and do it.
You can see the temple as you drive into town. It's a large five story temple that sit on top of a hill in Rexburg and overlooks the entire town. It’s similar to the Cedar City Temple on the inside, or the Kansas City Temple inside and out. In front of the temple was a large grain field that went on forever into the horizon. It was really pretty, but really windy.
The temple was really busy which is always good to see. We went and did a session and it was nice to finally do a session in English! We had done so many Spanish sessions that it felt weird to do it in English, but it was refreshing. We were the witness couple which is also fun.
In the first room there and was a pretty mural of the Tetons in the background of fields. Throughout the temple there were decorations and motifs of wheat because of how well wheat is grown in Idaho. There was even wheat in the stained glass and throughout the Celestial room.
We really enjoyed the temple and were so glad we finally did it. We got to Montana a little later but it was completely worth it for us. We still had three temples to do in Montana and couldn’t wait to finally do them all!
