Star Valley Wyoming Temple
Temple #79
Star Valley Wyoming
9/2/2017
Star Valley temple was the first temple in Wyoming, and when we went we were so excited yet surprised. We were surprised that we hadn't done it yet because it was so close to us and a year old. It was announced on 2011 and at that time we didn't think much of it, but when it was nearly finished we couldn't wait to go!
Ivy's Uncle lives in the Star Valley and her dad's family lives not too far away. This made it more surprising that it took so long for us to go there but I suppose we had been busy. Ivy's dads family was having a family reunion and so we went up and joined them in Star Valley.
Star Valley is a beautiful place that I had unfortunately never been to until this time. The temple stands out right near the center by the foot of the mountains surrounding the valley. It's a small temple yet unique in its style. It's quaint and small with a single steeple but it's a few stories high.
When we walked in we first noticed the gorgeous stained glass picture of Christ where he is knocking at a door. All the windows in the temple are stained glass and let in beautiful light.
The rooms are small and can't fit many people, and it was planned that the temple was going to be small because it wasn't supposed to be very busy, yet apparently it's constantly full and busy and already needs to be bigger.
We went with Ivy's parents and grandma on her dad's side, along with some aunts and uncles. The room was cramped and they brought in some chairs to accommodate us all. It was a great session and we really enjoyed it. We also were able to see the baptismal font and it had some beautiful paintings in the room. There were many pretty pictures within the temple with some of them were of the mountains around the area.
The Star Valley Temple was wonderful and it was great to go with Ivy's family. Afterwards we hiked to Intermittent Spring which was a pretty canyon and spring with some of Ivy's cousins.
We were happy that we had finally done the Star Valley temple. It was small and simple, yet beautiful. It was a great family reunion!
