Boise Idaho Temple

Temple 109
September 20, 2019
Boise, Idaho

Another temple here we come! We hadn’t done a new temple in a while and we’ve wanted to go up to Boise for a long time, so we finally made plans for a weekend to go up and we made it work. We had been to Boise before but it was a Sunday so we couldn’t do the temple that time. From what we learned, when going to the temple you need to just make plans and stick to them.
One of Ivy’s cousins lives in Boise and she was home that weekend as well so that made it better to go up when we did. Ivy and I took a Friday off and started our drive Friday morning. From Kamas it’s only about five hours to Boise which wasn’t too bad, although the scenery isn't the most exciting.
Our drive started out with a constant dreary rain and wind, but once we got into Idaho the rain and wind stopped and the sun came out. The rest of the way was sunny weather and we felt pretty blessed, especially since we always pray for sunshine when going to a new temple so we can get good pictures and also see it in the brilliant sunlight.
We got to Boise and the temple was right off of I-84, placed next to a busy road for all to see as they drive by it. There was a bit of construction going on around it but nothing going on with the temple itself.
The Boise temple is a six-spired temple like many others built around the same time period, such as the Chicago, Dallas and Taipei temples. The Boise temple though was the first of the fourteen six-spired temples built, being dedicated in 1984.
The temple had been remodeled twice, with one time a full remodel and rededicated in 2012. It was completely redone from the inside out, with even all the exterior stonework redone. When we went inside, we expected it to be just like all the other six-spired temples, but it was completely different. It’s not a one-leveled building but had steps now, and all the molding and trim in the front of the temple is made from beautiful, dark African mahogany. Once you enter farther into the temple everything is painted, white, and just brilliant.
We went through a session and enjoyed seeing the changes throughout the temple, including motifs of a flower placed throughout the temple and even on the doorknobs. The detail, when you look for it, is always outstanding and fun to see. After the session we went outside, where it was getting windy and dark. Luckily we had taken pictures beforehand amongst the beautiful flowers and grounds of the temple, so we got into our car and left.
We then headed to Ivy’s cousin’s house where we hung out and stayed the night. We were so happy to have done another temple, and one we've been meaning to go to for a long while. It seemed silly how long it took us to finally get to the Boise temple, but we were ecstatic to finally go, and just as excited for the next day to go to the Meridian temple!
