The San Antonio Texas Temple

The next little bit in our lives was quite interesting, yet was an adventure. We no longer worked at the cabin resort in Scroggins Texas, yet we were still needing to live in Texas for the next month and a half. We made some plans a few weeks earlier before we knew we were going to leave, but we still decided to stick with those plans. First was to go to the Dominican Republic for a week on vacation. The next was for my friend and his wife, Brad and Erin, to come visit us in Texas.
We no longer had a place to stay while in Texas, and we had figured out, through prayer, that we were going to move to Pennsylvania, but not until after Brad and Erin visited us. So we first had a very kind member in Mount Vernon from our ward keep our stuff at her house to make things easier.
We then went to Arlington, to one of my mission areas where I was for over seven months. On my mission I lived with the Blodgetts for over seven months, and completely enjoyed it. They were a great couple that helped us out a ton as missionaries.
We had contacted the Blodgetts and let them know of our situation. They were more than kind and let us stay with them for a while. We stayed in the very room where I slept on my mission, which brought back a lot of memories. We went to church in the same ward I served in for a long time. It was still a great ward, and many members remembered me.
Now, for San Antonio! While staying at the Blodgetts we decided to make a trip down South to San Antonio, to do the temple. We headed on south, and as we did we passed through a few more of my areas of my mission, which brought back more good memories.
We made it to San Antonio, and first went downtown. We parked and made our way to the famous Alamo! It was smaller than we both expected, but it was a good sight to visit. It was somewhat humbling to learn more about what had happened at the Alamo, and to learn about its history while standing amongst the old buildings. It was neat to now be able to understand the battle of the Alamo just a little more.

After the Alamo we walked on over to the canal where the river walk of San Antonio is. We walked along the river, and took in the view. We took pictures on one of the cute bridges, fed some ducks, and sat on a bench and ate a snack. We later came back to San Antonio with Brad and Erin when they visited us, and did nearly the same things. It's a fun little city and definitely recommended.

After downtown San Antonio we went to the temple. It was a ways away, in a more hilly area, and, of course, was built on one of these hills. It was on one of the taller of the hills and overlooked the majority of San Antonio. It was a smaller temple, yet beautiful still. It had a small waterfall fountain out front, and some rock landscaping. The spire is larger than other small temples though, and has beautiful stained glass in it which really glows when the sun is shining on it.
We then stepped inside the temple, and were in awe. It was a smaller temple, yet still unique. The stain glass was gorgeous throughout the building. We did a session and loved it.
Funny enough, we didn't drive far for where we were staying. We actually slept in a parking lot near the temple, in our car. Yes, we’re cheap, yet we didn't quite have jobs and had to save our money. And it was the most convenient, for in the morning we woke up and went straight to the temple and did initiatories. It was fun to go through the temple again, and is preferable when possible.
We really loved the San Antonio Temple, and San Antonio itself was fun. We then went back to Arlington, where we stayed with the Blodgetts for a few more days, until our next trip! Little did we know that we soon were going to go back to San Antonio with Brad and Erin, and that was another fun trip, and another story!
