Atlanta Georgia Temple

Temple #49
Atlanta, Georgia
December 9, 2015

Our road trip continued! We just did the Birmingham Alabama Temple, and we're only a few hours away to the Atlanta Georgia Temple. Georgia and Alabama are both similar states, with a deep South feeling as you drive through them. They also have a lot of history which was best to remember as we drove through the states.
We didn't do much in Georgia, just as in Alabama we didn't do anything, yet we were excited to go to the temple. The Atlanta Temple wasn't one of the small ones, like the past few and the next few are, but it’s a little larger, and different in design. It was also the 21st temple built, so it was a little bit older. It's also neat to know that out of the ninety temples Gorgon B. Hinkley dedicated, Atlanta Georgia was the first.
We went straight to the temple as we usually do in most cities. It's a pretty temple, and was recently renovated. It also looks somewhat like the Jordan River Temple when looked at from the front.
We were excited to go in and do a session, but we were disappointed when we got inside, because the power had gone out. We were worried we weren't going to be able to do the temple, but there was a simple solution; the temple had an emergency generator, which powered some of the temple. Because of this we were able to still do sealings in a partially lit room.
It was different, yet still spiritual and exciting. We had our prayers answered and we were still able to go through the temple and we even went into the beautiful Celestial room.
The Atlanta Georgia Temple was a fun experience, and we did enjoy Georgia. We learned that you make things work however you can, and that it pays to be prepared. We were glad that the temple had an emergency generator. We then continued on, heading towards our next stop!
