Birmingham Alabama Temple

Temple #48
Birmingham, Alabama
December 8, 2015

We were finished with Texas. After dropping our friends off, at the DFW airport, Brad and Erin, we headed back to the member's house we had been staying in. We stayed another night, and then packed up our things and said goodbye.
We headed east towards Pennsylvania. Ivy's cousin Natalie lived there, and she offered us to come stay with her for a few days. We took the offer, and wanted to also find a place to stay for a few months back in Pennsylvania, and so was going to use the opportunity to find a place.
We planned a week to get there, and had a few stops to get there. The first main stop was Birmingham Alabama, because of the temple. We of course had a few stops on the way. We drove through Louisiana and Mississippi, taking pictures at the borders.
The Southern states didn't have a lot to offer for us. They were flat and thick with trees, with not much of a change from state to state. We did stop by the Duck Dynasty warehouse in Louisiana, which was neat, and stopped by the Mississippi River and admired it.
The drive was fun, mostly because Ivy and I enjoy road trips together, and talk nearly the entire time. It is rare for us to turn on music, because most of the time we are talking about something.
We eventually made to Birmingham, and went straight to the temple. There wasn't anything to do in Birmingham really, and so we just did the temple, which was fine with us.
The Birmingham temple is exactly like all the other small temples. It was dedicated in 2000, and was the 98th temple. Nearly all temples built around that time were the same, because Gordon B. Hinkley felt it necessary for there to be temples close to everyone. It is great to know that there are so many temples around the United States now because of what Gordon B. Hinkley did.
The temple grounds were pretty, as usual, and it was still a nice warm day, although it was December. We were glad to have done another temple, but moved on to our next destination, to the next temple on our road trip.
