Draper Temple

Temple #11
Draper, Utah
November 29, 2013

The Draper Utah Temple; A beautiful House of the Lord, and a great addition to the Salt Lake Valley. It's a more recently built temple, and has blessed the lives of many.
The Draper Temple originally was going to be the Temple in which Ivy and I were going to be married in. As mentioned before, plans changed and we decided to do the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. This does not mean in any way though that the Draper Temple is of less beauty or standard. The Oquirrh Mountain Temple just felt right.
The Draper Temple is built on a bench at the foot of the mountains behind it, and overlooks the Salt Lake Valley. You can see the Oquirrh Mountain and Jordan River Temples from Draper, making the view spectacular. At night it's also a beautiful sight looking over the rows of street and city lights.
It's a stunning Temple, and plenty of money, fine materials and time were put into it. It is a magnificent Temple.
We went to this Temple a few months after being married. It was Thanksgiving weekend, and we had just spent our first Thanksgiving together at Ivy’s parents house. We had Friday off after Thanksgiving, and so decided to go the a Temple.
We had done baptisms in the Draper Temple before we were married, but had yet to do a session. We were excited to finally go back and go through the Temple. The picture we have is from the first time we went through, when Ivy had blonde hair, just to clarify the picture, since she had brown hair in the Temple pictures of Logan and Brigham City Temples.
The craftsmanship is stunning and everything is of the best quality. I admired every detail as we went through. There are pretty murals through the rooms which always adds to the beauty.
One thing neat about this temple is the theme that is applied in the decor and design. Many temples have a theme, as we continued to find out as we went to more Temples. This one had a sego lily theme, which happens to be the state flower. You see it in decals, in the flooring, in the ceiling, in the glass, and just everywhere. It's amazing and gives it a feeling of speciality.
We loved the Draper Temple, and sure love going every time. We've also done baptisms for the dead there with Ivys niece Kaylee, which was a fun experience. For a pretty view of the city, and a good Temple not far off the freeway, Draper Temple is a perfect place to go.
