Idaho Falls

Temple #3
Idaho Falls, Idaho
July 20, 2013

It's crazy to think that two of our first three temples were outside of Utah! This one goes along with our Montana trip though, which makes sense. I have a fairly vague memory of a lot of these first temples though, because Ivy and I were still engaged, and so I was just awe-struck and oblivious to the world around me. She's the one that reminds me of all we really did.
After our little day trip to Cardston and Glacier National Park, we went back to the cabin. We played with slingshots, tubed down a frigid but gorgeous river, and relaxed some more. We slept under the stars and had an amazing week. We headed back home afterwards, but made a quick detour. It was a ten hour drive, which at the time seemed long. We now look back on that and realize it's not that bad compared to some traveling and drives we've done.
We arrived in Idaho Falls, and went straight to the temple. It's a pretty town, and the temple is beautiful. It sits close to the Snake River, which is vibrant and beautiful. While there we had to see the waterfall, so we did that as well.
The Idaho Falls Temple is unique in a few ways. As we've traveled and seen many different temples, and researched and learned about them, we've learned that each temple is quite unique and all have amazing stories behind them.
This temple has a single spire that is large and rises high into the air. It's a pure, clean white and very elegant building. The temple was the ninth temple built, and so it also includes different rooms which you progress through, just like the Cardston Temple. That is now two of the seven temples that are special in that way that we have been to.      We love the older style of Temples, where we go through different rooms as you do a session. It keeps me more awake, which is a bonus, but the best is to see the beautiful murals painted in each room, and the gorgeous architecture created by the pioneers and other past carpenters and builders.

We did a session with Darcy and Vera, Heidi and Trevor, and Klint and Jodi. We had an enjoyable time on that sunny summer day. We took a picture afterwards, and then headed home to Utah. It was a spectacular trip, and we were so glad to have done so much.
As we continue the blog, it'll be found that we make every trip count towards our goal of going to a new Temple, just as we did on our trip to Montana. We hope that with our experiences and journeys we can inspire others to do the same.
